The dominant pitching staff of the Rangers continued its early season masterly with another shutout, this time Monday at home against Caney Creek.

Julio Garcia earned the win with eight strikeouts over five innings while allowing only one run. Ryan Flores came in and pitched the final two innings without allowing a baserunner to secure the save.

Sterling only could muster four hits and recorded the only run when  Blake Butler scored on a passed ball.

“Julio was dominant from the beginning commanding all of his pitches and pounding the strike zone,” Sterling head coach Adam Shibley said. “With all of our guys still on pretty strict pitch counts being this early in the season, the guys know they need to go right after the hitters to get deep into the game and he did a great job of doing that all while keeping them off balance.”
